I am a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Calgary.
I hold a B.A. (Honours, First Class) in philosophy from the University of Calgary (2009) and a M.A. in philosophy from Dalhousie University (2010). I started my PhD in 2014 after some time spent outside the ivory tower working in politics and as a freelance writer.
When I’m not doing philosophy, I can be found reading novels and non-philosophy non-fiction, looking at art, taking photographs, playing the guitar, running, engrossed in politics and current events, and hanging out in cafés. I also dabble in non-academic writing, such as creative fiction and non-fiction, and the occasional poem.
If you are interested in getting in touch with me, you may direct your email to bbeasley [at] ucalgary [dot] ca. I will welcome the distraction from whatever I am supposed to be working on.

I am also a contributor to the philosophy blog A Philosopher’s Take.
